Crash and Burn

Alrighty, time for some lyrics. I wrote these recently for a completely new song we’re working on in the band. I think I’m calling it crash and burn. I know what this sounds like with the music so I’m not sure how this will come across as just lyrics. What I do know is that when we put the two together it’s going to be pretty powerful. Hope you like this

How my band “My Other Life” came to be

I used to be a solo pianoman working the piano bars doing covers. I began to introduce my original songs to an unsuspecting audience, some of it worked and some didn’t. One major factor was that the audience couln’t hear all the other instrumemts in my head. I started to hate doing covers more and more and wanted to show people my songwriting.

I eventually recorded my first solo album where I played all instruments and produced it on my laptop. Took me almost a year but I feel it was well spent, as I used this album when recruiting the members of the band online.

It took a few lineup changes before My Other Life all worked out but I still say that I’ve dropped lucky. Right now the four of us are tight, we have a great live set and are beginning to write together with new ideas and viewpoints. Possibly more importantly we are becoming good friends and even though we’re still figuring each other out, I feel we’ll be friends for a long time

A blog, how original?!  Here’s a photo of me on the right, lookin happy at a gig

I’ll be mostly posting lyrics up on here, some complete, some work in progress and some that will never be anything more than a few lines that will get ditched.  This is place where I can empty my head of the ideas I have, or maybe write occasionally about moments in my life. Let’s see how this turns out!

I’ll not particularly be looking for critique on the lyrics I write, nor do I expect people will give a shit but general comments are welcome!
